Todaay we enter a new darker period in the war in Ukraine.Prior to the G7 and Nato meeting on the conflict there was a rocket attack on a suburb of Kyiv which left at least one dead and more civilians mourning. Since then there has been a rocket attack on Kremenchuk in Central Ukraine, an area well away from the front line. The attack in full daylight hit a busy shopping arcade/ This cannot have been a mistake so showing that Uncle Vlad is now condoning attacks on civilians in Crowded areas.

I have to believe that The G7 meeting may have pissed Putin off, since he is no longer invited and this is his way of showing he’s not worried by their deliberations. A bit of a short sighted view since the accusations of War Crimes won’t be easy to shake off and if he is ever turfed out of the job for life he seems to have awarded himself he could find himself in a cell in short order as the Russian people get on with conducting free and fair elections. A guilty verdict could be easier to prove than anything Teflon Trump has had to face though no less guilty.

There is movement on the Polish frontier by Ukrainians going back to their homes. This includes young children who will be at great risk if today’s activities are a sign of what is to come. These people are returning to their homes, if they still stand, with very little so donations to a Charity would be most welcome. In some instances, goods rather than money may be welcome as many will find themselves with nowhere to live. Please make sure you let your local newspapers know you don’t approve of this Russian aggression on a Sovereign country, and that you do support Ukraine and it’s people.

Hugs to all.

Junteenth Celebrations.

Yesterday June 19th was a celebration by the previously enslaved peoples of Africa over how far their case has progressed in the USA with a now paid public holiday inn recognition of their fight.I think they realise these is still a long way to go to get rid of Institutional racism, particularly amongst the police, and creating educational opportunities that rank equal to those of the white races, with matching job opportunities.

It’s my contention that those opportunities are still a long way off as long as politics has the chance to play fast and loose with the laws of the land. The Republicans do not want to lose the majority in the Senate so currently all the states where the Republicans hold sway laws are being changed to deny black people the vote. Racism is pumped into the arena by Politicians who push stories they know are untrue of Black Live Matter being responsible for creating problem at Demonstrations. Just look at the number of Republican Politicians who jumped to the aid of Racist Kyle Rittenhouse, offering him positions within the party. How quickly a racist white group declared him innocent at his trial.

The Republican majority group of very Wealthy Senators don’t want their power to be lost, and with it their source of income from the people that pay for their votes like the NRA and BIG PHARMA, so they will whip up this hatred so that no-one realises the fight is really rich v poor rather than white v black. But it is rich v poor and it includes poor whites too. Betsy De Vos still maintains that there should be a difference in education offered. The rich should go to Charter Schools and the poor to voucher schools paid for by whatever is left. There is a class of Ruling Elites and an under class to serve them. They will have to survive on whatever the minimum pay is at the time and Charity because there won’t be benefits from the State. They frown on that. ElonMusk has already shown what contempt h holds his staff in. That will be the byword of Law under the next few Governments if complacency takes hold now, Get out and make the vote count for the common people in November. Keep the Democrats in Power but make sure they know what you excpect from your vote.

How the Mighty have Fallen

It’s been a week unlike any other in my lifetime(that I can recall). The House Select Committee on Jan 6th have been revealing some of the details of that fateful day and detailing some of the proofs they have of how events unfolded. What an ignoble enterprise it was with the collusion of American Senators and Representatives to bring down the lawful Government. What has sickened me apart from the inclusion of Racist groups as a deliberate act in the venture, so that those responsible can never disassociate themselves from the intent, is the lack of condemnation from much of the mainstream press. Do they really think the man on whose behalf this was done is such a Stalwart American Hero that his actions rate forgiveness?

They Don’t!!! A friend shared on her blog a letter she’s sent to her State representatives and Senators asking whether they meant the oath they took after being elected. For those of you unsure of the oath this is it……… .I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. It seems a viable question given what’s been heard from the commiittee. Those involved in the insurrection cannot in good conscience claim to be defending the constitution from domestic enemies. In my mind those same people who take money from Big Pharma and the NRA are not faithfully discharging the duties of the office when they sell their votes not in the interests of the people. I feel that way whichever Political Party you’re from.

Following in the wake of the Uvalde massacre I think the law should change to stop any politico from accepting money from the NRA until proper bipartisan laws are in place to make it harder for people to get guns, specifically ones like the AR15 which do not belong in the hands of civilians. Politicians who do not subscribe to laws that protect the people of America should be voted out at the earliest opportunity. But going back to the start of this post I sincerely hope all those who took part in the insurrection are dealt with most harshly by Merrick Garland who has a duty to uphold the laws of the Country. Maybe when this happens the rest of the world can stop laughing and America can take it’s place as the Home of the Free again.

Do covers ever top the original?

I am jubilant on this special bank Holiday weekend in the UK which sees Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II achieve 70 years of dedicated Service on the Throne. The First Monarch to do so. I am not just a Royalist but a believer that restoring the Monarchy to all the Previous Countries who had one would benefit the Countries and the people who were previously Monarchies. That would include France and Greece where the departure of the Monarchs did not go well.Modern Monarchs ad learned from past mistakes and would not just be bettter rulers but would be a bulwark between the people and the politicians cwho haver distanced themselves from their people. However this is an emotive subject perhaps best left for another time.

Today is a subject I came across in my mail toady on the subject of Cover version of songs and whether they can ever better the originals I contend that they can.

As proof I offer up the original version of a song called Walk Away Renee . Then just listen to the cover version by the Four Tops full of power and emotions . Sticking with the Four Tops for a moment , they did a cover of a song If I were a Carpenter which for me also knock spots off the original. . The original was by Tim Hardin.

Next up is a Rolling Stones song which is good But the cover is by Melanie Safka and I thought she brought it to life.

Just something for you to ponder over. You may have favourite covers of your own or may think all covers are abominations.

Hugs to all, have a nice weekend.

Environmental Threat.

In view of all the news of killings, murders, refugee crises, and Wars that flows from the news each day it’s quite easy to forget there are other crises in the making across the globe that will affect us. One especially large one that may well impact the globe on a massive scale is EACOP (EAST AFRICAN CRUDE OIL PIPELINE). it sounds almost innocuous doesn’t it?

The pipeline is intended to cross almost 900 mils of Sub Saharan Africa and will be the longest pipeline in the world to carry heated crude oil from the shores of Lake Albert on the border with Uganda and DRC to the port of Tanga on the Indian Ocean. There will be disastrous consequences for communities and for wildlife and quite possibly for the planet. The pipeline will pass through multiple diverse habitats with endangered species (including Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake), jeopardise community water sources, cause air pollution, and its construction will negatively affect up to 120,000 people.

Any Incidence of a leak could make other disasters fade into insignificance in that vital water supplies will be poisoned and endangered species will be written off.

The Governments of Uganda and Tanzania have signed up to this with oil and gas company Total and with China National Offshore Oil Corporation, in a huge $20bn project. Currently they don’t quite have enough funding to go ahead. Many large banks are committed to not funding the project. The result of that was the unlawful arrests of many journalists and activists by the Ugandan Government. The current tack is to ask Insurers to stop their support of the project as with Insurance more banks /Investors may decide to go ahead and invest .Please if you have the opportunity, ask the big insurers to pull the plug or to publicly declare they will not offer either investment nor Insurance. AEGIS UK, ASPEN,BERMUDA.CHUBB , US and LIBERTY MUTUAL. US LLOYDS OF London are the most likely ones to go forward and offer the Insurance Needed.

The pipeline will disturb nearly 2,000 square kilometres of protected wildlife habitats, including Murchison Falls National Park, the Taala Forest Reserve, the Bugoma Forest, Wembere Steppe, and the Biharamulo Game Reserve – all of which are critical to the preservation of vulnerable species, such as the Eastern Chimpanzee and the African Elephant – the largest animal walking the earth, which pays a crucial role in maintaining a balanced ecosystem.

The pipeline will also cross more than 200 rivers – just one oil spill or leak could have catastrophic consequences on vital freshwater sources and the millions of people who depend on them. The likelihood of this is high as the pipeline will traverse an active seismic zone which regularly experiences earthquakes, on top of existing risks stemming from erosion, accidental damage or poor maintenance. Lake Albert is thought to be at particular risk, with the Tilenga oil field on its northeastern shore and the Kingfisher project on the eastern shore, which will put the Bugoma forest at risk by pipelines, roads, an airport, and migrant workers who will need to clear land to grow crops. South of the Lake, EACOP will cross Taala Forest Reserve, which currently provides 30% of Uganda’s fish catch. A third of the pipeline’s journey will run along Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake – an essential watershed for more than 40 million people and a source of the Nile river.

The pipeline is a threat to local communities who are heavily dependent on natural resources. It will displace thousands of families, and over 100,000 people across Uganda and Tanzania will lose land they rely on for farming. Many will be forcibly removed from their homes under compulsory purchase orders: A report by Oxfam found that Total’s human rights conduct is not being met in practice, with the land acquisition process being marked with a lack in transparency, inadequate valuation of land and delayed compensation. Many of people affected have been denied meaningful participation or adequate information on the environmental and social risks of the project – with representatives disproportionately stressing its benefits. Communities have expressed concern about oil spills, water shortages and deforestation affecting their right to a clean and healthy environment.

In Uganda, 7,000 people from 13 villages have already lost land to make way for infrastructure, including an airport to fly in equipment for the oil fields. Many of the displaced now live in concrete houses in so-called “resettlement villages” and complain about cramped conditions and long walks to their fields. Many are still fighting on the land, and their opposition is supported by a number of environmental groups to resist the increasingly authoritarian government.

Another report by FIDH titled “New Oil, Same Business” found that farmers faced intimidation and manipulation, forcing them to give up their land for meagre cash compensation. In order to suppress dissent, the government of Uganda has been heavy-handed with those speaking out publicly against the project. In October, six workers from the non-profit policy research group AFIEGO, who have been advocating against EACOP, were arrested under false accusations that they did not hold proper registration documents – the workers were held in jail for three days despite a lack of evidence against them. Last year, Global Witness warned about the criminalisation of environmental defenders and their communities, reporting that governments and companies exploit the legal system to silence activists who threaten their interests. Organisations are being accused of money laundering or funding terrorism after speaking out against fossil fuel developments, and subsequently have to suspend their activities.

Save the World, stop the Pipeline going ahead.

Hugs to you all

I cannot send my thoughts and prayers to the people of Uvalde, this term of regret has been debased so much in recent times that it’s almost worthless and is like a slap in the face to those suffering the Devastating loss this community is feeling. Two adults and 19 children who won’t be going home to their families yet again despite the warnings of previous abominations like Sandy Hook. I’m left wondering how long it will be before the Conspiracy Theorists start to say this was just another play enacted by Government actors in an attempt to thwart the Second Amendment, that Gilt Covered piece of legislation enshrined in law that gives Carte blanche to some members of the population to own more guns than they have fingers to pull triggers and to use them as they will.

That this slaughter has happened in Texas is quite telling really because Governor Greg Abbot has been instrumental in bringing in State Laws allowing the carrying of concealed weapons. Yet we’re told that 90% of gun owning Americans are in favour of some form of gun control like more thorough checks on people wanting to buy guns and the removal of guns from people convicted of Spousal abuse. An award winning Documentary shows just how many weapons were not taken away from abusers who then went on to kill. Very high in Florida under another Republican Governor Ron DeSantis who flies the flag for the NRA.

So, I send my sincerest regrets to these poor people, parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, Aunts and Uncles who will find an empty place at their supper tables and in their hearts. I ask, not for the first time and probably not the last. When will there be a politician brave enough to step forward and say enough is enough and get down to some real work for the voters to try and legislate some safety measures to prevent this happening again? The NRA are not your friends, they are agents of the manufacturers whose only interest is PROFIT without a thought for the innocents killed by their product. With two other recent slaughters based on racist propaganda, and now this, when will it be time for people to say No More automatic weapons in the hands of the general public and the police must remove all weapons from the hands of abusers?

Hugs to all my friends and to all those committed to bringing love and peace to all our communities,

Not a Happy Man.

At this point I have to admit, not for the first time that I’m not a happy man with the state of the World. The war between Russia and the Sovereign state of Ukraine where the people of Russia are not being told the true picture of why there is conflict and just what is going on is allowing innocent civilians to be deliberately targeted either by the direct orders of Uncle Vlad or at least with a nod and a wink from his office. I very much doubt that anything happens that he doesn’t know about. Added to the fact that he makes vague threats about nuclear weapons being used if there is any outside interference in order to scare off any would-be supporters of the Ukrainian people and their homeland. It seems to be working to some degree even though it could well mean the destruction of much of Russia if he did play that hand, and possibly much of the free Western World as well. This is of course not the only conflict going on with millions of others dying in their homelands too.

Then we’ve had a few years of Covid to contend with. Conspiracy theories aside there’s still talk of this being a man made plague that got away from it’s creators. Some say thr Chinese are responsible and yet others blame an American facility on Chinese soil. Whatever it is , it’s left millions of dead in it’s wake. And yet to a large degree the biggest concern of many is that they’ve been inconvenienced by being asked to take vaccines and to mask themselves in public. The public outcry in some places to being asked to protect themselves and others has been unbelievable. Many politicians have jumped on the bandwagon of stirring up problems in order to increase their electability in the forthcoming mid term elections in the U.S. On that note since I’m never one to pass up a chance, let me address American politics briefly. This is a Country that clasims to be the most Democratic in the World and calls itself the leader of the Free World and yet it fails to address that many of it’s politicians are known less for Party Political loyalty as they are to loyalty to their corporate sponsors. Those that feed vast sums to re-election campaigns. Oil Barons, Coal Barons and of course arms manufacturers. All people with the closest interests of the people at heart of course. How is it that no-one seems able to legislate that politicians serve the people and their votes are not for sale to some snake oil salesman with plenty of money. This week we also have news that Twitter has agreed the sale of their platform to Elon Musk, a multi billionaire who expressed that Ex President Chump should never have been banned and that he wants to reinstate him and open the platform up to completely Free Speech. Since Free Speech in this instance means being able to say anything at all, including spreading conspiracy Theories as well as spreading hate, because Free Speech extends to those Groups most normal people would ban. KKK and Proud Boys come to mind here. In amongst all the conspiracy Theories would be the one that Chump was cheated out of the 2020 election even though he won less votes. This stirs up the crazies of the right again as they buckle down to create the most oppressive laws within their States towards revealing the truth via education, to creating oppressive voting laws, removing women’s rights and those of people who do not fit easily in boxes like Gay people and transsexuals.Possibly not the least of the things to happen would be the reversal of Legislation put in place by Joe Bidento protect the environment. Tjhis is another thing to come under duress during the last few years. Whatever the dissenters say, Global Warming is real, even where it means global cooling in some places. The world has seen some major weather changes with not a few disasters recently and much needs doing to try to bring back some degree of normailty before it’s too late. Surely it’s better to take precautions and be wrong than to be right but to do nothing? Wind farms and solar panels at least don’t hurt the environment and do provide cheaper ways of heating and lighting homes.

So all in all you might understand why I’m not a happy Chappie. I like people but not the human race as a whole. Maybe we’ve had our Turn and something else should be given a chance now? I pray that common sense soon rules again and People forget the Strong Men of the Right like Bolsinaro , Dictators don’t have a place in our World, co=operation between nations does.

Hugs to you all.

Your Opinions

Before we start, if you are a confirmed Republican who sees no problems confronting your Country at the moment and feels that everything is as it should be with the reduction in voting rights within the states adopting them, and that the Investigation into Jan 6th is wrong, there’s no point in starting an argument with me as you won’t change my views. If you have any constructive suggestions as to how things could change to benefit the United States We want too hear them. Please include any opinions on the current status of gun control too if you have them.

1.Are the current State Changes to voting legislation fair to all? If not, what is wrong with them and how can they be changed to ensure fairness?

2.Why will Republicans not bring forward and vote for the new Bills on Voting Rights, waiting in the wings.

3. Do You agree that the actions of Jan 6th were one of the blackest days in U.S. HISTORY? iF NOT, WHY NOT?

4. Do you have an opinion as to how the rift between the Republicans and the Democrats can be healed? Are both sides actively working to make things better. How?

5. Does it matter how the rest of the world views the U.S.? Is it a fair image?

6. What should happen to those who planned and started Jan 6th and the foot soldiers who have since been arrested.?

Many people from many countries want to know if The United States intends to remain an ally to the West or whether those that praise the various dictatorships of the World will have their way. What should happen?

I’m grateful for your co-operation and hope that the friendship between our countries and between ourselves endures.

Hugs all round

wEll you must all know I stopped the blog for a while as I was feeling a little hinky. That boiled over this week when some of my family thought I was showwing all the symptome of lithium poisoning, andwhen that occurs I go doolally-tap and tend to forget who-where and when I am. Unfortunately I’d had a blood test on Monday that seemed to show I was borderline which preompted my doctor to suggest I was hospitalised as an emergency. My wonderful son in law needed no prompting and took me in. IT WAS SHEILA F ERGUSON WEATHER, JUST ONE OF THE promised THREE DEGREES (GROAN) AND THE SKY WAS CRYING HEAVILY AS IT SEEMS TO DO. THREE QUARTERS OF AN HOUR TO BE SEEN BY A TRIAGE TEAM WHICH DIDN’t SEEM TOO BAD BUT TEN HOURS TO SEE A DOCTOr WHICH DID., i SAT AND WAITED. Triage was good and over quicjkly . THEY TOOK more bloods to analyse TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS (MAYBE THEY’VE DEALT WITH ME IN THIS CONDITON BEFORE. i MAY NOT BE NICE, BUT THIS TIME THEY WERE WRONG.aNYWAY i WAS FEEELING GENEROUS SO i LEFT THEM A GIFT. before I left the room my bladder burst and I wet myself, there wasa a slow drip of urine off the edge of the plastic chair and I LEFT A TRAIL AS i walked to the door. I had not slept on Monday night at all, and now I did not sleep at all on Tuesday night, Having to try and cat nap in an uncomfortable chair waiting to see a doctor The call finally came at about .2 pm on Wednesday and I met a pleasant man who asked a lot of questions about how I was feeling and told me he’d organised a psych evaluation. I went straight into that one. Two more very pleasant people who asked a lot more questions including asking me my birthday twice. All in all it went well and they decided I had not got any mental health problems and nor had I got lithium poisoning. the problems reported by my family were just wish fulfilment dreams that I knew were not real. They decided I could be didscharged and rang my daughter who arranged for my son in law to come back and get me after work. So just after 7 pm Ugo turned up, I’d passed the 24 hour mark with no more sleep and more importantly with no hot meals of any kind. just a ham, mustard and mayo sandwich which was only just palatable. This was doing the diabetes no good. Ugo ran me home and we tried to stop at a cafe on the way, it had just closed but I managed to get a bacon and egg sandwich and a bag of crisps plus a bottle of Pepsi max for the car. I wet myself again but it happened before I got in the car luckily. BACK AT HOME i WAS LEFT TO MY OWN DEVICES AND AFTER uGO HAD GONE i SAT AT THE COMPUTER TO DEAL WITH EMAILS. tHERE were hundreds.

Not a problem I just stayed sat there until daylight then had my breakfast toast and took my Insulin

My cleaner didn’t come today so I had to start her job myself. Still, I used her pay to pay myself too. Miked arrived a day early at 3.33 pm so we sat togrteher until he went to bed about midnight and he seemed even mor’Hinky’ than I was. I came through to my room about 3.3 am but couldn’t go tosleep so it’s now 5.06 am and I’m trying to get off here to go to bed for a while, my first sleep since Sunday night. At least my bladder seems to have started behaving as it should and gives me time to reach the loo..

Goodniight for now.

Friday we shopped for things we may not get on our weekly pilgrimage tomorrow. I slept in my chair for the afternoon and some of the evening. it’s 5,39am Saturday morning and I’ve come through to my berdroom to see if I can sleep before I’m due to get up at am for shopping at 7 am. Mike is gently buzz sawING away in his bed. He does for hearing what a POKE IN THE EYE WItH a SHARP STICK DOES FOR VISION,

Anyway I’m glad this week is over and i look forward to sleeping naturally again.
